June: Favorite song

This great envelope is made by Karen , and the song is Thank you from Jim Morrison, The Doors:

She wrote a few songlines on the envelope matching the painting of the burning heart: C`mon baby, light my fire,Try to set the night on fire.

I also like the matching stamp of a red Chevelle.

This beautiful envelope is made by Nancy, it is her first attempt to Mail Art, and I think she did a fantastic job on it.
Her favorite song is: Northern sky, by Nick Drake.
She painted me the Northern lights on the envelope and I love it, I would love to see the northern lights in real, and I didn`t know the song but thanks to her I do now and I like it a lot.

One of my favorite songs is: Summerlove, by Sherbert, it gives me a real summer feel and I married my Summerlove. :-)
On the back of the envelopes I wrote a few of the songlines:

Its a great song with  great matching mail art envelopes.

I also like how she wrote the address in the cloud that comes out the chimney of the house, I do like these little details.

May: theme Animals

This months theme is Animals,
Laura made it up, I guess because she loves animals, just like me. :-)

This incredible cool mail art is made by Karen!
She put a lot of work in it, I love it!
She made a jungle of green leaves with cut outs that she glued on a plastic sheet.
Through the cut outs you can see jungle animals from her postcard peeking through!!
What a creative and original idea.
I also love that she has attached matching stamps.
Have a look at the gorilla in the corner looking through the leaves

 And the back side has a zebra print, lovely!

These envelopes are made by Ivy:
Australia is famous for its unique wildlife, so I wanted to use the native animals.
I painted them in Dot Art style, a style of painting used by the australian aboriginals.
It is quite easy to do and I thinks the effect is great.
I wanted to use the nice animal stamps that we always had, but sadly I couldn`t find a post office who was still selling them, so I had to settle for the English Queen. :-( but I added an extra 5c stamp with a Platypus. :-)

And on the back of the envelope I made drawings of the cockatoo, koala, platypus and the pygmy possum glider.
I also wrote a part of an aussie poem:
Men of science, wise and clever,
all declare that they have never,
Met the likes of these rare creatures,
which no other country features.

This animal envelope is made by Nathalie and looks like a zoo, I love all the little drawing of animals that she made , it is a great collage of animals and have a look at the stamps,a perfect match.
Also on the top beautiful tape with animals on it.

 And as always the back of the envelope also received some attention, I like the mix and match of different colours and patterns with little animal footprints drawn over it, nice detail!

April: theme Spring

For this months mail art exchange, Ylanka came up with the theme Spring.

These envelopes are made by Ivy:
 A spring envelope made in soft green and yellow with butterflies and a dragon fly.

Scraps of paper in pink and with spring blossoms, pieces of tape with birds, paper cut outs of dragonflies and over it a skeleton leave with a layer of mod podge.

Made of all pieces of paper scraps in happy spring colours. ,ribbon, tape and a picture of little ducklings.

The next envelope I used a spring illustration from a childrens book in combination with some happy pattern paper, ribbon, and over the envelope I glued a skeleton leave with modpodge.

These lovely envelopes are made by Karen, she cut lots of tulip heads out of  paper.
A very nice idea and the result is gorgeous, very artistic.
She also made her own postcard with the same tulip heads.

The following and very artistic spring envelopes are made by Nathalie,
The first, also with tulips, which I love! .It is very Dutch,tulips, cows and stamps from Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam
She used newspaper to cut out the tulips and then painted them with acrylic paint,   and she has done that very well, beautiful!
I also like the edges with the pretty masking tape.

The second envelope:

Also very beautiful, the name is written on a cloud behind a little painted branch with blossom flowers and a little bird cut out of a magazine. Lots of detail, really pretty.

 And of course a pretty backside again with a painted rainbow and a quote of the dutch Loesje:
Give me a winter jumper with spring flowers on it, LOL
Loesje is very famous and does lots of great quotes.

 The third and very artistic envelope:
A pretty spring scene, with a painted bench,painted grass and clouds and cut outs of frogs, birds and flowers, very sweet.
Nathalie is a very good painter! :-)

 And on the backside, snails on clouds and a kite , love it!
A lot of work and thought has gone in these envelopes.

The forth envelope:

A stunning painting of the Dutch tulips fields with a beautiful big sun at the end of it, very pretty.

and the pretty backside with 1 big tulip:

 This envelope is made by Dasha, she used lovely pastel blue and purple colors 

and has drawn a very cute couple of birdies on the envelope. 

The envelope is made of pretty paper with little blue flowers. Spring feeling! 

This one is also made by Dasha: lots of confetti, flowers and a spirograph flower, I have not used a spirograph since I was a child. They are great tools to make wonderful shapes and figures.

 and a drawing on the backside with Russian? words on it.

This envelope is made by Laura, with very cute stickers of Beatrix Potter, who doesn`t love Peter Rabbit. Also nice soft yellow spring color and a paper flower added, very cute envelope!

mail a smile challenge

Mail a smile is a wonderful project by Jenny and Micu, of sending mail art to people who are in need of a smile.

Happy letter box March

Theme of the Happy letter box Mail Art Project for the month March :

My dream for our country, inspiration for our king.


Nathalie came up with this theme, it is related to the upcoming coronation of Prince Willem Alexander of the Netherlands on the 30th of April.

These envelopes are made by Ivy :
A collage on front and back of the envelope with text that tells about "my dream":
To be more aware of our environment , to recycle as much as possible.

The second envelope: 
"A dream" to be more aware of the people around us. 
To be friendly to each other, to say nice things, give compliments,to have time for elderly people, help each other,to  help people who need it without expecting anything in return, to do volunteer work.

The third envelope: 

To respect each others culture and live in harmony together..

The following envelopes are made by Nathalie:
Very creative, with lots of "Dutchness",the colors of the Dutch flag in the balloons, in the corners pictures of the stamp with Queen Beatrix and To be King Willem Alexander, a Delfts Blue vase with tulips and little golden trimmings. I also like how the envelope has the address appearing as an envelope standing on a little table waiting to be mailed. Nice work. :-)

 This beautiful envelope is made with a word of the theme, the word dream and as you can see it is a very dreamy lovely envelope.
I love all the different butterflies and the pretty colours that she used, also the envelope is decorated with pretty  stamps and little pink glitters, and Nathalie also drew a little white branch with pink (magnolia?) flowers, very pretty, I love all the little details on it.

The following envelope is made by Laura from Scotland, she made it all in the dutch royal theme, nice research! and she made a pretty matching postcard with it. As she writes on the card it is her first attempt of mail art and she is looking forward to make more and better mail art each time. 
I think it is great that she joined us, and I really enjoy every attempt of creativity, so well done Laura, and I am looking forward to your next one. Lets inspire each other.
